Northeastern 1, Binghamton 0

Sophomore Jen North scored on a header with 1:46 remaining in the first half, lifting Northeastern (6-7-4, 2-2-2 America East) to a 1-0 win over host Binghamton (9-5-2, 3-3-1 America East) in an America East Conference women's soccer game on Sunday.

Binghamton outshot the visiting Huskies 20-14 for the game but Northeastern converted the shot that mattered when Jess Pfeifer passed the ball to North, who was waiting by the goal. North then headed it in from close range for the only score of the game.

"That was a great win for us," said NU head coach Ed Matz. "Binghamton is one of the top-scoring teams in the conference and was coming off a win ovr Hartford. So for us to come in here and shut them out is a pretty significant accomplishment for our program."

Sophomore goalie Cynthia Slowik made seven saves to pick up the win. Northeastern next plays at home on Friday when they host Albany at Parsons Field, starting at 6 p.m.
