Brown 2, Northeastern 0

Junior Molly Cahan scored her second goal in as many games, while sophomore Kim Boortz stopped one shot in earning her first career shutout as Brown (4-4-2) defeated Northeastern (4-5-3), 2-0, in a non-conference game Tuesday evening at Stevenson Field.

After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless action, senior Kristin Nabb sent a long cross through the top of the box and Cahan one-timed the ball past Northeastern's Cynthia Slowik at the 28:26 mark. The goal, which proved to be the game-winner, was Cahan's second in as many games, while Nabb tallied her first point of the season.

The Bears controlled the tempo for the entire game, as the team played strong in front of Boortz, who was making her first collegiate start and was forced to make just one save, while earning her first career shutout.

Senior Caitlin Carey connected with classmate Laura Iden at the 81:20 mark as Iden scored her third goal of the season to give the Bears the 2-0 lead and round out the scoring.

Slowik ended the game with nine saves for the Huskies, who now have not scored in three consecutive games. Northeastern will be at home on Friday, as they host New Hampshire at 6 p.m.
