Stephen Kohan drove home the game-winning run with a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Binghamton to a 4-3 win over Northeastern in the first game of an America East doubleheader.
The Bearcats struck first, scoring a single run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tony Berube led off the inning with a double and eventually scored on a single by T.J. Kowalchuk. Binghamton added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Shawn Collyer singled to lead off the inning. After Berube was hit by a pitch, Kyle Loucks and Tim Collar followed with RBI singles.
Northeastern rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning. With one out, Erik Hagstrom began the rally with a single. After a Bearcat error, Nick Graves doubled home one run and Mike Steinberg followed with an RBI groundout. With the Huskies down to their last out, Brad Czarnowski singled home the tying run.
Phil Artonio got Binghamton out of the jam, retiring the only batter he faced to end the inning. The Bearcats captured the win in the bottom half of the inning. Jacob Thiel led off with a single, and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler McGonigal. Kohan then entered the game as a pinch-hitter and drove home the winning run.
