Junior Liane Dixon scored twice for Northeastern, as the 11th-ranked Huskies downed host Brown, 6-1, in non-conference action at Warner Roof in Providence Wednesday.
Junior Mari Creatini and sophomore Jay Quinn both had a goal and two assists to match Dixon's four-point effort. Melissa Rowell and Sara Webber also scored for the Huskies. Senior Leigh Shea had three assists.
Northeastern scored early when Dixon scored unassisted on a breakaway a minute into the game. A few minutes later, at 4:45, the Huskies missed the stick stop on a penalty-corner play, but Creatini managed to get the ball past outstretched Brown goalie Katie Noe (six saves) for NU's second goal of the match. Dixon got on board again at 21:03 when she pushed a ball in from the right side, and the Huskies took a 3-1 advantage into the break.
NU scored on three corners in the second half. Rowell, Webber and Quinn fired in goals at 46:07, 49:49 and 65:03 respectively.
The Huskies outshot Brown, 13-2, and held a 17-0 penalty corner advantage.
