Junior Mari Creatini had a goal and an assist to lift 12th-ranked Northeastern to a 2-0 victory over Holy Cross in Worcester.
Redshirt freshmen Natalie Singelais tallied her third goal of the year and first career game-winner for the Huskies (4-2), while junior goalie Diana Nelson made two stops for her first shutout of the season.
"It was a good win for us, but Holy Cross made it tough," said NU coach Cheryl Murtagh. "We dominated possession of the ball, which was one of our goals going into the game. We still would like to execute more opportunities on attack."
Northeastern's defense smothered the Crusaders (4-2) throughout the contest, allowing one shot in each half. For the game, the Huskies had a 17-2 shot advantage and 16-4 edge in penalty corners.
NU took a 1-0 lead with 12:41 remaining in the first half, when Singelais beat her defender, then HC goaltender Jennifer Corsilli (12 saves) and found the back of the cage.
Creatini provided an insurance goal with 19:39 remaining. She finished the week with four goals and three assists.
