Northeastern 3, Harvard 0

The 10th-ranked Huskies blanked No. 17 Harvard, 3-0, on Thursday in Cambridge. The game was scoreless at halftime before NU broke out for three goals in the second frame to improve to 10-2 this season. Harvard fell to 6-4.

The game played through a scoreless first half despite Northeastern's 8-1 edge in shots. The Huskies also held a 6-1 advantage in penalty corners in the opening stanza. They had a chance to get on the board but Mari Creatini's penalty stroke attempt went wide right at the 13:03 mark.

Creatini made up for it 1:18 into the second half when she collected the rebound off of an Alli Bolster straight shot on a penalty corner and tapped in the cage for the eventual game-winning goal and her team-leading 13th score of the season.

Bolster added a score of her own when she carried the ball up the middle of the field, found some free space and tucked the ball past Crimson netminder Aliaa Remtilla at 40:55.

Liane Dixon provided the final 3-0 margin with a goal at 54:32. Jay Quinn took the initial straight shot on a penalty corner, Remtilla made the save, but the ball kicked to a waiting Dixon outside the left post and she hammered it home for her 11th goal of the season.

Senior goalie Diana Nelson came out to the top of the circle to break up a Harvard opportunity at 63:50 when Jane Sackovich had a breakaway. Nelson made two saves for the shutout.

The Huskies finished the game with a 16-4 edge in shots and a 9-1 penalty corner advantage.

The Huskies take on Albany in an America East contest on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The game will be played at Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
