The Huskies opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Ball State on Saturday at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. It was the fourth season in a row that the Huskies started off the season with a victory.
Jay Quinn tied the game at 1-1 with a goal off a corner 20:18 into the contest. Senior Mari Creatini scored the game-winner at 56:35 and was assisted by Alli Bolster.
Diana Nelson played the whole game in net, making three saves and allowing a goal.
Ball State's Jen Strodel scored the first goal of the game to give the Cardinals a 1-0 edge at 8:43 in the first half.
The Huskies return to action on Monday with a game against Ohio at noon.
