Freshman pitcher Kris Dabrowiecki threw eight innings, scattering seven hits and allowing one run, and freshman Anthony Fantaroni and senior Tim Bush homered, leading the Northeastern baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Holy Cross in game two of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies had lost game one to the Crusaders, 2-1.
Dabrowiecki (2-1) was stellar throughout the game, allowing no walks and striking out six hitters. The only he run gave up came in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Brendan Akashian.
After Holy Cross (4-9) scored, NU responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Fantaroni homered to left to start the inning. Later, junior Arman Sidhu doubled and scored on a wild pitch by Crusaders starter Jim McCloud (1-3), who went 7-1/3 innings and gave up five hits, four runs and one walk while striking out three.
The Huskies (5-10) capped the scoring in the eighth when Bush hit a two-run bomb to left, ending McCloud's day.
Sophomore Dave Pellegrine recorded a save with a scoreless ninth, striking out three.
NU plays another home contest on Tue., March 29 when it hosts Connecticut at 3 p.m. at Friedman Diamond.
