The Northeastern baseball team fell to Maine, 12-0, on the second day of the America East Tournament to set up an elimination game with Vermont later tonight at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vt.
Sophomore Dave Pellegrine (5-3) had the ball for the Huskies (26-22) today, but he struggled all day, allowing 12 hits and seven runs in seven innings.
Meanwhile, NU's bats were silenced by Black Bears (33-16) starter Greg Norton (9-3), who allowed just six singles in the win.
The big blow for Maine came in the top of the eighth when Ryan Quintal hit a grand slam off of senior Jim Madison to give the Black Bears a commanding 10-0 lead.
The Huskies will play for their season tonight when they battle the Catamounts. NU and UVM have met four times already this year with Vemont holding a 3-1 edge. Senior Devin Monds will head to the hill for NU.
