BOSTON -- Ryan Griffin has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday. The North Andover, Mass. native earned the honor after a dominant rubber-match performance against a Monmouth offense that entered the weekend as the best in the CAA.
Facing a Hawks lineup that came in leading the conference in nearly every offensive category, the senior right-hander set a new career high with nine strikeouts over six innings, allowing just one run on two hits and walking two to improve to 4-0 on the season. After a two-out solo home run by Monmouth in the first inning, Griffin allowed just one single the rest of his outing, limiting a dangerous Monmouth offense to just the one run.Â
Griffin's first Pitcher of the Week honor came on March 9th following a two-win week, getting the start and the win at #2 LSU before coming into an extra innings game in relief against Stony Brook before the Huskies took the lead in the 13th inning. Griffin currently leads the weekend rotation with a 3.06 ERA in 32.1 innings of work.
