The Northeastern field hockey team was defeated 1-0 in overtime by CAA rival, Old Dominion, on Sunday in Norfolk, Va. Sophomore Kathleen Shea scored the game-winner in overtime.
After a defensively stellar contest, that included defensive saves on both ends, the Huskies and Lady Monarchs were forced into sudden victory overtime.
At just a minute into the OT period, senior Shannon Mobley brought the ball into the circle and forced Northeastern goalkeeper Liz Centofanti out. Mobley quickly passed to Shea who beat Centofanti for the game-winner at 1:42, and the Lady Monarchs walked away with the win.
With the loss, Northestern drops to 3-6 on the season (0-2 CAA), and 2-15-1 all-time against Old Dominion. The Huskies return to action next Sunday when they host New Hampshire at Sweeney Field at 2 p.m.
