The Northeastern University baseball lost 26-9 in the rubber game of a three-game series against George Mason at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, Va. on Sunday. The Patriots blew the game open with a ten-run fifth inning that broke a 3-3 tie.
Captain Mike Lyon led the Husky offense, going 3-4 with his eighth home run of the season, two RBI and three runs scored. Junior Frank Pesanello and sophomore Dave Fisher each added home runs for the Huskies as well.
Sophomore Ryan Quigley started the game for the Huskies. In four innings of work, he gave up three runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out six. He earned a no-decision as he left the game after the fourth with the game tied 3-3.
The Huskies dropped to 8-8 overall and 2-4 in the CAA, while the Patriots improved to 9-11 on the season and 6-2 in the CAA. The Huskies are scheduled to be back in action on Tuesday when they host Rhode Island in their home opener at Friedman Diamond at 3 p.m.
