uskies drop game one vs. IPFW, 5-1

The Northeastern University baseball team dropped a seven-inning contest to the University of Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, 5-1, in game one of a doubleheader at Manatee Community College in Bradenton, Fla. on Saturday afternoon. Junior Jeff Thomson went the distance for the Huskies to take the loss.
The Husky bats were fairly quiet for the second straight game. Junior catcher Frank Pesanello went 2-2 with a double and a run scored and was the lone Husky to finish with multiple hits. Junior third baseman James Donaldson drove in the team's only run with a single to center field that scored Pesanello.
Thomson allowed seven hits and five runs in his second complete game of the season, while striking out six and walking two.
The loss drops the Huskies to 5-4, while the Mastadons improve to 1-4-1 with the win.
