The Northeastern University baseball team lost the second game of a doubleheader against Towson University 6-4 at Friedman Diamond on Saturday afternoon in what was a seven-inning contest. The Huskies finished with a doubleheader split after winning game one 8-4 in 11 innings on a Dave Fisher walk-off grand slam.
David Gustafson and Mike Tamsin were the offensive standouts for the Huskies in the game. Gustafson finished 2-3 with a double, homer and two runs scored, while Tamsin went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Mike Lyon hit an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh, but the Huskies weren't quite unable to complete the comeback as the game ended with Frank Compagnone flying out right in front of the 375 ft. marker in left center.
Dan Zehr took the loss for the Huskies and dropped to 1-3 after allowing nine hits and being charged with all six Tiger runs (four earned) over 3+ innings. Les Williams and Charly Bashara each tossed two scoreless innings apiece to finish the game out.
The Huskies dropped to 15-17-1 on the season and 6-10-1 in the CAA, while the Tigers improved to an even 17-17 overall and 6-8 in the conference. The teams will be back at it in the deciding game of the three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Friedman Diamond. Ryan Quigley gets the start for the Huskies.
