The Northeastern University baseball team suffered a slim 7-6 defeat to the Harvard Crimson at Friedman Diamond Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies took a 5-2 lead after the fourth inning, but they were unable to hold off the Crimson, who picked up the win in what was their final game of the season.
Frank Pesanello led the Husky offense, going 2-4 with a double, his team-leading 14th home run and two RBI. After a career day in yesterday's game, senior Alex Fox stayed hot for the Huskies and added a ground rule, RBI-double.
JT Ross made his first career start for the Huskies in the game. He was strong overall, going three innings and allowing four hits, two runs and three walks to go along with three strikeouts. Aaron Greenblatt was first out of the bullpen for the Huskies and tossed a scoreless innging of relief. Russ Lloyd then struggled in an inning of relief in which he allowed four runs. Bobby Carrington pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh for the Huskies before Dan Zehr closed out the last two innings. He took the loss after allowing a solo homer to Matt Rogers in the eighth that broke a 6-6 tie.
The Huskies dropped to 17-21-1 on the season while Harvard improved to 10-30. NU is back in action on Friday when it hosts Hofstra in the first game of a three-game series at Friedman Diamond. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
