The Northeastern University baseball team lost 7-3 to Old Dominion at the Bud Metheny Complex in Norfolk, Va. on Sunday afternoon. The Monarchs completed a three-game sweep of the Huskies with the win after shutting out NU in the first two games. Ryan Bergh pitched a complete game for the Monarchs on Sunday.
The Huskies jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after Mike Tamsin walked and scored on a Mike Lyon triple to left center. Lyon scored on the play as well following a throwing error by the Old Dominion shortstop. The Huskies' third run came on back-to-back doubles by David Gustafson and James Donaldson in the seventh.
Ryan Quigley started the game for the Huskies and picked up the loss, dropping him to 1-3 on the season. He allowed seven hits, five runs and four walks in four innings pitched, adding in six strikeouts. Kris Dabrowiecki was solid in four innings of relief for NU, allowing five hits, two runs and one walk to go along with four strikeouts.
Northeastern dropped to 16-20-1 on the season and 7-13-1 in the CAA, while the Monarchs improved to an even 21-21 overall and 12-10 in the CAA. NU is back in action at Friedman Diamond tomorrow when it hosts Bryant at 3 p.m.
