After ending #19 UNC Wilmington's 21-game winning streak with a 6-4 win earlier in the day, the Northeastern University baseball team fell 11-1 in game two of a doubleheader vs. the Seahawks at Friedman Diamond on Saturday.
In what was a seven-inning contest, the Huskies managed just one hit, a Frank Pesanello solo home run, as Seahawk starter Bradley Holt dominated Husky batters for the entire game, striking out seven and walking none in a complete-game effort.
Pesanello's homer in game two gave him 10 on the year, putting him one ahead of captain Mike Lyon for the team lead.
Dan Zehr started the game strong for the Huskies, holding the Seahawks scoreless until the third, but ended up allowing nine runs over 5+ innings. Charly Bashara then allowed two runs in an inning of work before Aaron Greenblatt held the Seahawks scoreless in the seventh.
The loss dropped Northeastern to 11-12 overall and 4-7 in the CAA, while UNC Wilmington improved to 23-5 on the season and 13-1 in the CAA. The rubber game of the series is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. Captain Kris Dabrowiecki takes the ball for the Huskies. He will be up against Jeff Hatcher of the Seahawks.
