After leading for the first seven innings of the game, the Northeastern University baseball team took a 7-5 loss after William & Mary rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Husky bullpen stallwort Sheldon McDonald at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va. on Thursday night. All three eighth inning runs came on a three run homer from Tribe slugger Tim Park.
Captain Kris Dabrowiecki returned to the starting rotation for the Huskies on Thursday and pitched brilliantly through the first six innings. Though he was charged with five runs after pitching through the first batter in the eighth inning, he allowed just four hits and two runs through the first six innings. He finished with seven strikeouts in all and did not walk a batter. McDonald dropped to 9-2 on the season with the loss.
Offensively, Mike Tamsin stayed red hot for the Huskies, going 3-5 with his second home run of the season. His average is now up to .384 on the season. Captains Mike Lyon and Josh Porter also stepped up offensively for the Huskies and pitched in with two hits apiece, while James Donaldson also chipped in with a big two-run double.
The Huskies dropped to 20-23-1 overall and 9-15-1 in the CAA, while the Tribe improved to 35-13 on the season and 16-8 in the CAA. Northeastern will try to even up the series tomorrow night with Jeff Thomson taking the ball. Game time at Plumeri Park is 7 p.m.
