Northeastern's late rally, using a pesky full court defense, fell short as the Huskies dropped a 68-63 overtime decision to Hartford on Sunday afternoon. Brittany Wilson recorded her second-straight double-double pouring in 27 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Hartford started on a 13-3 run over the first 4:04 of the game. The teams remained scoreless until Kim Carr hit a lay up at at 14:18, making it 13-5. The Hawks immediately responded with five straight points to take an 18-5 lead.

The Huskies were able to cut the lead to nine, using two three pointers from Wilson and Kendra Walton, but the Hawks would outscore Northeastern 6-2 to take a 33-20 lead with 5:40 left in the half. After a Deanna Kerkhof lay up and Carr converting a free throw, the two teams remained scoreless for the final 2:18 as Hartford took a 33-23 lead at the half.

Wilson led Northeastern with nine first half points and four rebounds while Carr added five points. Diana Delva had 12 points in the first to lead Hartford.

The Huskies scored the first six points of the second half, but Hartford built the lead back to 10 points off a field goal and a three pointer. Kerkhof hit a three to cut the margin to seven points once more as Northeastern trailed 38-31 at the first media timeout.

Hartford scored next five points to give it a 43-31 advantage, but the Huskies used stingy full court defense, causing four turnovers in 52 seconds that led to 10 unanswered points to bring them within two at 43-41 with 10:29 left. Hartford pushed it back to a seven point game, but the Huskies used another 5-0 run to make it a two-point game once more. Northeastern's pressure defense continued to cause problems for the Hawks, causing three turnovers, but it could not convert its offensive opportunities and after a pair of Ilicia Mathis free throws, Hartford went up 50-46 with 5:05 left.

A three from Hartford's Jackie Smith gave the Hawks another seven-point cushion with 3:42 left, but Northeastern had another run in store and cut the lead to one point off a Kerkof bucket at 1:25. With 45 seconds left, Wilson was fouled and hit one of two from the line, to knot the score at 55. On the ensuing Hartford possession, Delva grabbed an offensive rebound, but came down out of bounds, giving Northeastern ball with 12.5 ticks on the clock. The Huskies couldn't hit a shot as Mathis pulled down the rebound for Hartford, who called a timeout with one second remaining in the game. Wilson stole the inbound pass at mid-court, but her last second heave went wide, sending the game to overtime, the third in as many games for Northeastern.

Silvia hit a three to open overtime for the Hawks, putting them up 58-55. After trading baskets, Hartford would take another two point lead when Erica Beverly hit one of two from the line. The Huskies tied the game after Rachael Pecota put back her own miss to bring things to an even 59-59 with 3:10 left in the extra frame. Alex Hall scored the next five points for Hartford to swing the score to 62-59. It was as close as Northeastern would get, as the Hawks would grab a pair of key offensive rebounds and iced the win with free throw shooting.

The Huskies forced 12 steals and caused 33 Hartford turnovers, shooting 39.7 percent for the game while holding Hartford to 38.7 percent. Wilson recorded her second double-double in as many games and had her fourth consecutive 20-plus scoring game. Kerkof's nine points were a career-high.

Northeastern returns to action after a break for exams, taking on Marist on December 22 at 7:30 p.m.
