Former Huskies athlete Kathryn Waldo passes

Boston Globe obituary

Former Northeastern women's hockey standout Kathryn Waldo passed away Wednesday at the age of 33, following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. Waldo lettered for the Huskies between 1996-99, compiling 106 points in her career on 52 goals and 54 assists. She ranks 19th all-time in career scoring at Northeastern.

A native of Cross Plains, Wisc., Waldo played through the disease during her career with the Huskies. In 1997, she was given the ECAC Sarah Devens Award for hard work and commitment on and off the ice. She is one of two Huskies (Jaime Totten) to have won the award in program history.

Waldo was also a member of the Huskies' 1997 ECAC championship team, the last Husky squad to win a conference title. Waldo helped Northeastern to three consecutive Beanpots from 1996-98 and currently ranks sixth all-time among NU Beanpot scoring leaders with 17 career points.

Waldo graduated in 2000 with a degree in Education.
