The Northeastern men's crew won its eighth-straight Burk Cup defeating Pennsylvania by nearly 5 lengths Sunday.
The Huskies covered the 2000-meter Schuylkill River course in 5:39.4 to the Quakers 5:52.4.
Blessed with flat water, but fighting 90-degree heat, the shells were even at 500, but at 1000 the Huskies had a length lead. Sensing victory, coxswain
Elizabeth Carey called for a power ten and NU quickly added another length. At 1500, it was NU by three boat lengths, and last 500 simply added to NU's margin while upping their boat record to 21-19.
For the Huskies it was a sweep of the Schuylkill, with the 2nd varsity and freshman boats victorious. Coach John Pojedinic was impressed with boat's speed.
NU's regatta record now stands at 4-2.
The Huskies will be back on the Charles next weekend as they row against Harvard for the Smith Cup Saturday, May 2. Races begin at 7:24 a.m., with the varsity race at 9:48 a.m.
