The Harvard men's crew team won their 12th straight Smith Cup defeating Northeastern by three lengths.
The Crimson covered the 2000-meter course of the Charles River in 6:10.7 to the Huskies 6:21.2.
Both crews, fighting a head wind, were even at the settle but Harvard edged to a deck length lead at 500. The next 500 was all Crimson as they surged to a two-length lead at the 1000 meter mark. By 1500, Harvard extended their lead to three lengths and that margin remained until the finish.
Harvard extended their Smith Cup record to 18 victories to NU's three. In regular regatta season records, Harvard remains undefeated at 6-0 and Northeastern slips to 4-3. The Crimson are ranked fifth nationally and Northeastern seventh.
Both crews will compete next Sunday in the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
