Huskies 10th at IRA Championship

The men's rowing team finished 10th overall, fourth in the Petite Final, at the IRA Regatta in Sacramento, Calif. Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies covered the 2000-meter course in 6:04.71, finishing behind Wisconsin (5:55.96), Syracuse (5:59.30) and Cornell (6:02.33) but ahead of Columbia (6:07.55) and Dartmouth (6:12.55).

With competition tight throughout the race, the Huskies tried to make their move at the 1500-meter mark but it was not enough to overtake Cornell. Last year NU finished fourth overall.

Earlier in the day, the freshman crew took third in the Petite Final with a time of 6:09.33, behind Princeton (6:04.61) and Syracuse (6:05.16). Last year the freshman boat finished ninth overall.

The varsity 4 boat won its Petite Final, finishing in 6:44.12, ahead of Brown (6:49.10), FIT (6:50.53), Yale (6:52.77), Loyola (6:55.18) and Drexel (6:57.53).
