Box score

Chaisson Allen knocked down six three-pointers, tying a career high, in leading the Huskies to a 71-46 rout of George Mason Thursday at Matthews Arena. Allen finished with 20 points, five assists and three steals as Northeastern has extended its winning streak to six games.

Northeastern (8-7, 3-1 CAA) has also tied George Mason (8-7, 3-1 CAA), along with three other teams, for first place in the CAA. The two teams will meet again in Fairfax, Va., on Feb. 27.

The Huskies and Patriots played a very competitive first few minutes. Allen knocked down a pair of threes at 19:20 and 16:24. George Mason kept up as Luke Hancock made a layup at 15:48 to give the Patriots a 7-6 lead.

The Huskies then went on a 9-2 run, capped by Nkem Ojougboh's layup at 12:05, assisted by Allen, to put NU on top 15-9.

However, the Patriots came right back with a 6-0 run to tie the game with 9:18 left, but the Huskies then took over the game. The Huskies had excellent ball control throughout the contest. After a pair of Manny Adako free throws put Northeastern back on top, Matt Janning connected on a layup at 8:32, assisted by Bataille. Then a minute later, Adako knocked down a mid-range jumper off another excellent pass by Bataille, who made a career-high six assists for the game. At the end of the 14-3 run, Allen hit another wide open three to open up an 11-point advantage, 29-18, with 5:30 left in the half.

Allen made another triple at 3:38, his fourth of the half, to make it a 12-point game, 32-20. It was 34-22 at halftime. Allen had 14 points at the break.

In the second half, Allen tied his career high by knocking down his fifth and six three-pointers of the game at 17:23 and 16:43, the second trey giving the Huskies a 42-24 edge.

The Patriots could only get as close as 14 points before Northeastern ended the contest on a 19-9 run. With the Huskies starters out of the game, the bench got some experience. Kauri Black made his first appearance of the season, coming off an injury, and scored six points.

Northeastern shot 47.9 percent for the game and made nearly all of its free throws (16-for-17). The team connected on nine three-pointers and had a season-high 19 assists to a season-low eight turnovers.

George Mason was just 37.7 percent from the field, 3-for-14 from downtown. The Patriots committed 16 turnovers that turned into 19 Northeastern points. Ryan Pearson led Mason with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Northeastern will have a quick turnaround as the Huskies will play at Georgia State Saturday at noon on Comcast SportsNet New England.
