PITTSBURGH – Paced by freshman forward Katie MacSorley's two goals, the Huskies earned a 6-4 win over the Robert Morris Colonials on Saturday.

It was MacSorley's second multi-goal game in just four games with the Huskies, and the fantastic freshman now has four goals on the season.

Northeastern held three-goal leads on three separate occasions during the game, and the Huskies got shorthanded goals from freshman Claire Santostefano and senior Kristi Kehoe. Senior Leah Sulyma made 15 saves to earn her first win of the season.

The Huskies got on the board just 1:48 into the contest thanks to Santostefano's shorthanded tally. Sophomore forward Brittany Esposito had the helper to put Northeastern up, 1-0.

MacSorley scored the next two goals of the game, with her first tally coming at the 6:09 mark of the first period. Senior Alyssa Wohlfeiler and freshman Maggie DiMasi added assists.

Then, at the 4:30 mark of the second period, MacSorley put Northeastern ahead, 3-0, when she beat Kristen DiCiocco thanks to assists from Casey Pickett and Casie Fields.

Dayna Newsom made it 3-1 just 30 seconds later, but the Huskies regained the three-goal advantage with one second to spare in the second period. At the 19:59 mark, DiMasi potted her first goal of the season, with Julia Marty and Esposito assisting on the power play strike.

Robert Morris replaced DiCiocco with Daneca Butterfield to start the third period, and that seemed to spark the Colonials as they cut the lead to 4-2 at the 1:29 mark. However, Kehoe's shorthanded goal with 13:55 remaining in the period gave Northeastern a 5-2 lead. It was Kehoe's first goal of the season.

Rachel Llanes closed the scoring account for Northeastern with a power play goal at the 12:41 mark of the third period. Wohlfeiler earned her second assist of the game on Llanes' second goal of the season.

Ten different Huskies got their names on the score sheet, with goals coming from five separate skaters. Northeastern outshot Robert Morris, 29-19, and was 2-for-5 on the power play.

The Huskies and Colonials will be back on the ice on Sunday afternoon, as the teams take to the ice at the brand new home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Consol Energy Center. The puck is scheduled to drop at 12 p.m.
