Huskies falter at James Madison, 4-1, in regular season finale

Box score

HARRISONBURG, Va. -
Lindsay Bennett notched her second goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as James Madison downed the Huskies, 4-1, in both teams' regular season finale.

The scoring began in the 32nd minute when Dolores de Rooij took a free hit and beat Lizzie Priest for the 1-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until the 44th minute when de Rooij once again found the back of the cage, this time thanks to a pass from Lise van Dam. Three minutes later, de Rooij assisted on Amy Daniel's 19th goal of the season to put James Madison up, 3-0.

de Rooij completed her hat trick in the 53rd minute when she slotted a rebound home. In total, she notched seven points on the afternoon.

Bennett saved the Huskies from a shutout when she deked goaltender Margo Savage (three saves) on a breakaway in the 61st minute.

Sophomore goaltender Lizzie Priest made eight saves. James Madison sent 24 total shots towards Priest, keeping her busy for most of the game.

Northeastern had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss. The Huskies will have a chance to play their way into the NCAA tournament starting on Saturday, when they travel to Drexel for the four-team CAA tournament. The tournament lasts from Nov. 6-7 and will remain at Drexel.
