Nicky Graham, Northeastern came away from Towson with a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.
With the win Northeastern improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. Towson fell to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the CAA.
Graham opened the scoring just 8:52 into the first half. After her initial shot was stopped by Whitney Clugston (three saves), Graham put her own rebound into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
Towson responded at the 23:38 mark of the first half when Tabi Hatch took a feed from Kim Schnell and beat sophomore goaltender
Lizzie Priest (two saves) to even the score, 1-1.
Just under four minutes later, however, Graham tallied her fourth goal of the season to put the Huskies back in front, 2-1. Junior forward
Carolyn Malloy assisted on the goal.
Northeastern controlled play throughout the game, and outshot the Tigers, 9-4. Six of the Huskies' nine shots came in the high-scoring first half.
The Huskies will look for their second straight win on Sunday, Oct. 10 when they visit the Delaware Blue Hens. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
