Huskies topple Towson, 2-1

Box score

Paced by a pair of goals from sophomore forward Nicky Graham, Northeastern came away from Towson with a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.

With the win Northeastern improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. Towson fell to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in the CAA.

Graham opened the scoring just 8:52 into the first half. After her initial shot was stopped by Whitney Clugston (three saves), Graham put her own rebound into the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.

Towson responded at the 23:38 mark of the first half when Tabi Hatch took a feed from Kim Schnell and beat sophomore goaltender Lizzie Priest (two saves) to even the score, 1-1.

Just under four minutes later, however, Graham tallied her fourth goal of the season to put the Huskies back in front, 2-1. Junior forward Carolyn Malloy assisted on the goal.

Northeastern controlled play throughout the game, and outshot the Tigers, 9-4. Six of the Huskies' nine shots came in the high-scoring first half.

The Huskies will look for their second straight win on Sunday, Oct. 10 when they visit the Delaware Blue Hens. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
