Northeastern curbed its five-game skid with 3-3 tie against Providence on Friday night at Schneider Arena, overcoming a two-goal deficit early on. Wade MacLeod gained his 100th-career point on an assist while the Huskies' top line of seniors in Tyler McNeely, Steve Silva and MacLeod continue to dominate the scoring sheet. The veteran trio accounted for five of NU's nine points on the evening.

McNeely potted his second power play goal of the season while junior Mike McLaughlin assumed the lead in team goals (5) for the Huskies with his team-best third power play marker on the year. Rookie Rob Donagara leads all newcomers as the Scituate, Mass. native put away his third tally of the season late in the first period.

Sophomore netminder Chris Rawlings played a sturdy game, stopping 36 shots to keep the Huskies in the contest all night. PC's Alex Beuadry turned away 34 of NU's attempts.

Northeastern converted on 2-of-7 power play chances while the Huskies' penalty-kill stopped the Friars on 4-of-5 opportunities.

Daniel New put a stir into Northeastern's defense off the bar by ringing one off the pipe past Rawlings' mitt just 10 seconds into the game off a draw in NU's zone.

Providence took that jolt and turned into its first goal of the game at 3:03 of the first period. Derek Army tossed the puck at Rawlings' pads from the netural zone and the puck kicked out Jordan Kremyr in the slot. With a defender trailing, Kremyr beat Rawlings five-hole to claim the early 1-0 lead.

Northeastern was granted a couple power play opportunities a couple minutes later, but PC killed off Kyle MacKinnon's obstruction-interference call at 4:26. Eric Baier followed him into the box at 7:59, but rookie Cody Ferriero turned NU's PP into a 55-seconds 4-on-4 situation with an elbow at 9:05 of the first. Second-year defenseman Drew Ellement was called for hitting from behind at 10:08 to give the Friars a 5-on-3 for 57 seconds.

The Friars capitalized on the two-man advantage 23 seconds later on a tic-tac-toe play low in NU's zone. After winning the draw, New passed over to Baier at the top of the circle who then pitched it down to MacKinnon, hiding in Rawlings' left blind spot. MacKinnon quickly popped the puck back to Baier at the top of the right circle to bury the one-timer for the 2-0 lead at 10:31.

The Huskies battled back in the waning moments of the first stanza on a rebound goal from Dongara at 18:56. Silva jarred the puck off the backboards and the disc caromed back to McNeely in between the circles. McNeely attempted the quick wrister on Beaudry, but PC's netminder couldn't handle the rebound. Dongara swooped in on the right side and stashed in under Beaudry's left pad to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.

The Huskies came out strong to start the second and kept the puck in Providence's zone thanks to a MacKinnon tripping infraction at the end of the first (19:29), but Northeastern could not convert in the two-minute window.

Around the halfway point of the contest, Rawlings denied O'Connor on a breakaway chance, but a few exchanges later, the Friars regained their two-goal cushion at the 14:06 mark of the second frame.

MacKinnon carted the puck through the neutral zone and snapped it over to O'Connor who brought it around the net and kicked it out to the slot where Ben Farrer was waiting to smack it past Rawlings at 14:06 to push the count to 3-1.

Northeastern quickly responded with a nice forecheck that turned into a Huskies' power play marker at 15:47. Freshman Luke Eibler forced the puck out to sophomore Garrett Vermeesch who was alone atop the left circle. Vermeersch unleash a ferocious slapshot through traffic and McLaughlin was able to sneak the tip of stick onto the disc and redirect it off the post to inch within one, 3-2.

Kevin Hart's hooking penalty at 6:57 allowed the Huskies to tie it up on their second-consecutive power play goal from NU's first line. Silva calmly gathered the puck on the far boards and zipped the puck through PC's ice to MacLeod who has positioned to Beaudry's left on the goal line extended. McNeely broke away from his defender and camped out all alone on the right post. MacLeod sought out his winger and connected with McNeely for the lay-up to tie the game at 6:57, 3-3.

NU's penalty-killing unit staved off a Friars' 5-on-3 near the midway point of the third and pushed the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, MacLeod was able to carve through two PC blue liners and fire off a shot, but the puck sailed inches wide. Sophomore Steve Quailer had a two-rebound opportunity in front of Beaudry, but the puck never crossed as the Huskies earned their third tie of the season.

Northeastern returns to Matthews Arena to close out the regular-season series with Providence tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The game will follow the men's basketball fray against Siena, tipping off at 1 p.m.
