Sophomore guard Chris Fouch scored 27 points to lead Drexel to a 63-58 win over Northeastern in men's basketball action at the Boston Tip-Off Classic on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden. Senior guard Chaisson Allen tallied a double-double for the Huskies in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.

Allen posted 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies (2-4), his fourth career double-double and second of the season, and stuffed the stat sheet with three assists, three steals and a block. Freshman forward Ryan Pierson added a career-high nine points, classmate Alex Harris has three steals and fellow rookie Alex Bates blocked two shots.

Fouch was 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc to account for 15 of his 27 points. Senior guard Gerald Colds scored 14 points, junior forward Samme Givens grabbed nine rebounds and freshman guard Frantz Massenat dished four assists for the Dragons (5-1), who won their third straight game.

The Huskies took an early 5-2 lead after Pierson drained a jumper from the elbow. The Dragons came back to tie the game at 8-8 when Colds hit a baseline jumper. Pierson put the Huskies on top once again with a field goal on his next trip down the court, but Colds answered with a three to give Drexel an 11-10 lead. Joel Smith knocked down a long jumper at the other end to put the Huskies on top, but the see-saw battle continued as Colds got another bucket to put Drexel up, 13-12.

From there, the Dragons built a nine-point lead before the Huskies fought back to make it a two-point game at the break with Drexel leading, 33-31.

Pierson opened the second half with a layup to tie the game, but Colds followed by sinking a pair of free throws to put the Dragons back on top.

Harris dropped in a floater to tie the game at 37-37 with 17:30 to go before Givens answered with a bucket at the other end. Harris picked up a steal and was fouled at the other end, making both free throws to level the score again, but Fouch responded with a three to put the Dragons up, 42-39, with 16:02 on the clock, a lead they never relinquished.

Both teams shot 39.3 percent from the field, rebounds were also even at 38-38 and each side scored nine points off turnovers. From beyond the arc, though, Drexel was 6-of-12, while Northeastern went 2-of-13.

The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m., hosting Rhode Island at Matthews Arena. The game will air online at GoNU.tv and on campus on HuskyCable Channel 81.
