Northeastern's defense left a hole for Speelman off the draw and he charged in and rang it off the post, but the puck bounced back to his tape and he lifted it by Rawlings to knot the game at 1-1.
Twelve seconds later, the Wildcats snatched the lead on a shifty backhand by Paul Thompson at 15:10. The puck scooted down into NU's zone off the draw and Thompson wheeled it around the net with a clean look for the 2-1 lead.
Head coach Greg Cronin pulled Rawlings at 18:18, but the Huskies were not able to sustain a potent attack on Foster. Northeastern turned the puck over in the neutral zone and Peter LeBlanc potted it from the blue line at 19:13 to ice the 3-1 final.
The Huskies were 0-4 on the powerplay while New Hampshire was scoreless in its two opportunities.
