The Northeastern men's track & field team wrapped up its regular season at the Skyhawk Invitational, picking up three throwing victories, including a pair by Nate Hunter (shot put and discus) after a month hiatus. Junior Alex Ianetta also secured the hammer throw event on Friday night at Stonehill College.

Hunter's return featured a winning pitch of 43.39 (59'6.75) in the shot put, marking a facility record at W.B. Mason Stadium and his second-longest throw since the Husky Spring Open (18.35m). The Gloucester, Mass. native also set the Stonehill facility record in the discus throw, topping out at 43.39m (142'4), also a Husky best this season.

Ianetta kept his hammer throw hot streak going by besting the facility record yet again with a toss of 53.33m (175'0) in the hammer throw. The junior notched his best mark of the season right before the conference championship next weekend.

Senior Michael Page let loose a second-place pitch of 14.72m (48'3.5) in the shot put while freshman Mark Mastone finished fifth with a mark of 13.01m (42'8.25).

Freshmen Mark Rossoll and Andrew Mastone also placed for the Huskies in the discus and hammer throw, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively, in the discus with distances of 32.41m (106'4) and 32.04m (105'1). In the hammer throw, Rossoll (40.31m - 132'3) and Mastone (38.25m - 125'6) took fourth and sixth, in that order.

Sophomore Evan Whetsell registered NU's best time in the 400-meter dash on Friday, finishing third with a mark of 49.97.

Sophomore Daniel Grant  placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run, beating 13 other competitors at a clip of 4:02.05.

Northeastern placed fourth out of five (NU, Stonehill, Bentley, Boston University and Boston College) teams with 60 points, but with so few participants, the Huskies were looking to fine tune before CAAs rather than place.

The Huskies will look to capture their first CAA track & field title April 30-May 1 in Fairfax, Va. Last season, Northeastern placed sixth.
