Four Huskies registered double-digit scoring performances, but Hofstra claimed a 77-63 victory over Northeastern Thursday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y. Northeastern moves to 6-9 on the season (1-3 CAA) while the Pride improve to 10-5 (2-2 CAA).

Rachael Pecota returned to action and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds while adding six points and three assists. Classmate
Christine Huber added four points, four rebounds and two blocks before fouling out.
Hofstra was led by Shante Evans' game-high 28 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. Nicole Capurso also notched a double-digit scoring performance for the Pride, scoring 19 poionts while grabbing five rebounds.
The Huskies got off to a quick start, as
Jewel Tunstull won the opening tip and dished to a driving Cannon who notched her first layup of the game. Hofstra tied the scored with a layup from Evans but Kerkhof stepped in front of a Pride pass and ran the floor for a fastbreak layup. Tolbert pushed the Huskies' lead to 6-2. A three-point play from the Pride put Hofstra within one at the media timeout taken at 15:38.
The Pride took the lead following the break with a 6-0 run, putting Hofstra ahead 11-6. Pecota put the Huskies back on the board with a layup but Hofstra responded with two consecutive three-pointers from Capurso. Huber scored her first points of the game off a dish from Conroy, putting the Huskies within seven at 17-10. The Pride quickly pushed their lead back to double-digits with Capurso's third three-pointer of the half.
Cannon cut the lead back to single digits, but it was again short-lived, as Capurso notched her fourth shot from beyond the arc. Pecota's jumper from inside the paint brought the score to 23-16 with 7:37 left on the clock. Huber netted a jumper from inside the key to bring the Huskies within five. Huber was then called for a foul on Evans, sending the sophomore to the line, where she converted both shots. Conroy drilled a three-pointer from the far wing then drove for a layup for a 4-0 swing for the Huskies, bringing Northeastern within four at 27-23.
Northeastern closed out the half with a three from Cannon and a putback layup from
Sierra Mendenhall but the Pride maintained their lead and the teams went to the locker rooms with Hofstra holding a 37-29 advantage.
Kerkhof notched her first points of the afternoon with a three-pointer on the Huskies' first possession of the second half. Tolbert drove to the basket to continue the 5-0 run for Northeastern. A pair of free throws for the Pride put Hofstra on the board, followed by a driving layup for a 41-34 Hofstra lead.
Conroy converted a three-point play to cut the margin to six but Hofstra continued to extend its lead, holding a 49-37 advantage with 14:13 left on the clock. Two free throws from Conroy brought the margin down to 10 points. The Pride pushed their lead out to 12 before Tolbert drove to the hoop, making it 51-41 with just over 10 minutes to play.
Hofstra used a 4-0 run to extend its lead before Kerkhof drilled a shot from beyond the arc to stop the Pride's run. Tolbert brought the margin back to single digits before Hofstra regained a double-digit lead at 62-48. The Pride took their largest lead of the afternoon at 17 points with less than three minutes left on the clock and the Huskies were unable to overcome the deficit, as they ended the game with a 77-63 setback.
The Huskies shot 34.7 percent from the field on the afternoon while Hofstra managed a 47.3 percent mark. Northeastern only converted 4-of-22 shots from beyond the arc for an 18.2 percent clip while the Pride went 6-of-14 from deep for a 42.9 percent average.
Northeastern held the advantage on the boards, 43-40, and committed 21 turnovers to the Pride's 20.
The Huskies continue their three-game road swing with a trip to Richmond, Va. to take on the VCU Rams Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
