The Northeastern women's cross country team participated in the sub-varsity race at the 2011 New England Cross Country on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston.

The Huskies are nursing a couple of injuries and resting up for the CAA Championship in a couple of weeks.

Sophomore Lauren Wardwell was the Huskies' top finishers in 82nd with a time of 20:33 in the 5K race. Junior Lauren Ward and newcomer Mara Scallon finished four seconds apart from each other with 126th and 132nd place marks of 21:32 and 21:26, in that order.

Freshman Nicole Novellino and junior Kathleen Keen turned in respective times of 21:40 and 21:47 for 141st and 145th place to close out the Huskies' distance contingent.

Northeastern trotted out a few other members of the track team to run the 5K. Sophomore Chelsea Hudson emerged as the top finisher in that group, crossing in 24:43 for 198th.

Northeastern will train for the next few weeks in preparation for the 2011 CAA Championship in Atlanta, Ga. On Saturday, Oct. 29. The event will be hosted by Georgia State.
