The Huskies (9-17, 5-10 CAA) led by as many as 17 points in the first half, but a late rally sent the game to overtime and the Panthers (11-14, 6-9 CAA) held a 12-9 edge in the extra session.

Josh Micheaux also hit double figures for the Panthers, posting 13 points and four assists.

Allen and Smith hit threes early on to give the Huskies an 8-4 lead. The Panthers came back to tie the game, but a layup from Ryan Pierson kicked off a 7-0 spurt had the Huskies up, 15-8, with 12:05 to go in the first.

Lee hit back-to-back baskets to start a 9-0 run that gave Northeastern a 32-15 lead when Lee hit a pair of free throws with 5:10 left in the first half. From there, Georgia State closed the half on a 14-1 run to cut the Huskies' lead to 33-29 at halftime.

Smith kicked off the second half by completing a four-point play, his second of the season, and starting an 8-0 run for the Huskies.

The Panthers rallied again and came back to tie the score at 55-55 when Harold Doby hit a pair of free throws. Lee put the Huskies back on top, but McGee answered with a putback to level the score again. Smith and Marshavelski sunk free throws to put the Huskies up, 60-57, and both teams traded baskets before Micheaux completed a traditional three-point play to tie the score at 62-62. Both sides missed shots in the closing seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime.

The Panthers jumped out to the lead in overtime, with Buckner and Micheaux each scoring on putbacks before free throws put Georgia State up by six. Marshavelski hit a pair of free throws and Lee came through with a layup to bring the Huskies back within two.

After free throws had the Panthers back up by four, Smith drilled a long jumper that cut the lead to 71-69 with 21 seconds to go. McGee hit a pair of free throws, but Marshavelski answered with a layup that kept the Huskies within two with four seconds to go, but Micheaux hit one of two free throws at the other end and a halfcourt heave at the buzzer fell short for Northeastern.

After shooting 52.4 percent (11-of-21) in the first half, the Huskies were held to 39.1 percent (9-of-23) from the field in the second, going 23-for-52 (44.2 percent) in the game. The Panthers shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) and outrebounded the Huskies, 39-26.
