Despite posting a higher shooting percentage, the Huskies were unable to overcome Hofstra, as the Pride pushed past Northeastern, 80-61, Thursday night at Solomon Court.
The loss puts the Huskies at 8-17 (3-11 CAA) on the season while the Pride improve to 15-10 (7-7 CAA).

Kashaia Cannon led Northeastern with 19 points and four steals, sophomore
Deanna Kerkhof posted 14 points and two assists and junior
Jamie Conroy added 12 points, five assists and five steals. Senior
Mia Mayberry grabbed a team-high five rebounds to go with four points while classmate
Tiffany Crews added five points for the Huskies.
Shante Evans led four players in double-digits for the Pride with 21 points. Kate Loper added 19, Candace Bond netted 14 and Nicole Capurso poured in 11 points for Hofstra.
Hofstra posted the first points of the game with a layup from Evans and
Christine Huber tied it up with a layup on the other end. Candice Bellocchio gave Hofstra the lead with a three from the wing that sparked 10-1 Pride run before a three from Cannon brought the score to 12-6 in favor of Hofstra with 13:49 left on the clock.
Hofstra took a double-digit lead off a basket from Evans and pushed its lead to 20-8 before Cannon brought the margin to 10 points with a driving layup. After a basket from the Pride, Cannon intercepted a Hofstra pass and notched a fastbreak basket to maintain the 10-point margin, at 22-12. Northeastern used baskets from Conroy and
Dani Iervolino but the Pride maintained a double-digit lead at 33-17 with 3:33 left in the half.
Kerkhof netted a three-pointer and a free throw for the Huskies and
Jewel Tunstull converted on two opportunities from the charity stripe to bring the Huskies within 10 points, 33-23. Capurso tallied a basket and a pair of free throws for the Pride to send the teams to the locker rooms with Northeastern trailing 37-23.
Hofstra started the second half with a basket and Northeastern responded on the other end with a basket from Conroy. Cannon then drilled a three from the top of the arc before Capurso responded for the Pride with a three on the other end. The teams traded field goals and Hofstra then took its largest lead of the night, 48-30, with 15:53 left on the clock.
The Pride pushed their lead to 20 points but Cannon responded with jumper in the paint. Hofstra extended their lead to 56-34 with 11:24 left to play. Following a timeout Kerkhof sunk her second three pointer of the night and a Pride turnover led to a quick basket from Conroy. Hofstra sunk a three on the other end to regain the 20-point lead at 59-39.
The Huskies managed to bring the deficit down to 15 points, 64-49, with 6:40 left on the clock. Pride received a pair of free throws from Terry but Kerkhof responded with her third three of the game and Northeastern was able to bring the margin to 14 points. The Huskies were unable to bring the deficit any lower and the Pride held on for an 80-61 victory.
Northeastern posted a 47.9 percent mark from the field (23-of-48) while Hofstra managed a 47.6 percent clip from the field (30-of-63). The Huskies committed a season-high 35 turnovers, which led to 40 points for Hofstra. The Pride committed 24 turnovers, paving way for 29 Huskies points.
Northeastern returns to action on Sunday afternoon, as the Huskies travel to Wilmington, N.C. to battle the UNCW Seahawks. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
