2011-12 Schedule
BOSTON—Northeastern University released its 2011-12 men's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday. Head Coach
Bill Coen's squad will play 18 Colonial Athletic Association games, in addition to the
11 non-conference games previously announced on Aug. 18.
The full schedule features 11 games against teams that earned postseason bids last year, including seven games against NCAA Tournament participants from a season ago.
The Huskies will open conference play on Saturday, Dec. 3, when they welcome Old Dominion to historic Matthews Arena.
The conference schedule resumes in earnest the first week in January, with three games in six days. Northeastern will travel to Towson on Monday, Jan. 2. The Huskies then return home on Wednesday, Jan. 4 to host UNC Wilmington before closing out the week at James Madison on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Northeastern will play its third road game of the young conference season on Wednesday, Jan. 11, when it travels to Hempstead to face Hofstra. The Huskies then return to Boston for a two-game home stand, hosting William & Mary on Saturday, Jan. 14 and Georgia State on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Coen's team then heads to Philadelphia for a clash with Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The Huskies close out January with another stretch of three games in six days. The busy week begins on Monday, Jan. 23 at Old Dominion. On Wednesday, Jan. 25, Northeastern welcomes Delaware to Matthews Arena for the first of three consecutive home games, followed by Hofstra on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Drexel on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The Red and Black then embarks on a three-game southern road swing, stopping first at VCU on Saturday, Feb. 4, followed by visits to Georgia State on Wednesday, Feb. 8 and William & Mary on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Towson travels to Matthews Arena for a Valentine's Day match-up on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The game is the first in another three-game home stand for the Huskies. Northeastern will play a BracketBusters game later that week before welcoming George Mason on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
The Huskies will conclude the 2011-12 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Delaware.
Northeastern will then travel to Richmond, Va., for the Virginia 529 College Savings Plan CAA Championship, March 2-5, at the Richmond Coliseum.
The Huskies non-conference slate includes games at Boston University (Nov. 11), at Massachusetts (Nov. 14), vs. Southern Illinois (Nov. 19), at St. John's (Nov. 26), at La Salle (Nov. 30), at Bradley (Dec. 6), vs. Princeton (Dec. 18), at Louisiana Tech (Dec. 20), at N.C. State (Dec. 22), at Vermont (Dec. 30), and a BracketBusters game at Matthews Arena (Feb. 17, 18 or 19).
