Northeastern closes out regular season at CCSU

Results

The Northeastern women's cross country team wrapped up its regular season with a sixth-place showing at the CSSU Ted Owens Invitational on Saturday morning in New Britain, Conn. The Huskies ran amongst nine other squads that included UConn, Hartford and host Central Connecticut State.

Sophomore Danielle Klein paced the Huskies' effort with a 13th-place finish of 18:58 for the 5K trial. Senior Meegan Joly finished behind Klein in 22nd place with a time of 19:29 while newcomer Mara Scallon closed out her day with a 32nd-place march of 20:03.

Second-year harrier Lauren Wardwell finished up in 44th with a time of 20:53 while senior Lauren Ward capped Northeastern's efforts with a 49th-place jaunt of 21:15.

Northeastern's collective time of 1:40.38 was only six minutes off the pace of Marist's winning total of 1:34.03.

The Huskies will take next weekend off in preparation for the New England Championship to be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Northeastern's home course of Franklin Park. Last season, the Huskies finished 14th out of 47 squads and are looking strong heading into the New England Championship.
