The Northeastern men's track & field competed in the Roxbury CC Tiger Open on Saturday, Jan. 7 and turned in a sound performance including seven victories at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

The success spanned from the sprints all the way to the field as sophomore Alex Shapiro ran away with the 55-meter crown after motoring at a clip of 6.60. Newcomer Jared Lane followed in Shapiro's footsteps in the 200-meter dash, cross in winning fashion with a clip of 22.35. Switching over to the distance game, first-year harrier Conor Lyons was awarded first place after marching the mile in 4:20.36. Classmate Stephen Sollowin took home the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:14.5.

Three different Huskies emerged victoriously in the field events, including a dominating first-place leap of 6.92m by veteran Andrew Staples in the long jump. Freshman Jason Matthews put together a winning combination of 14.31m in the triple jump while senior Patrick Jablonski closed out the day with a winning throw of 15.74m in the shot put.

The Huskies also recorded the same number of runner-up finishes, with Staples and Shapiro racing towards the finish line for respective second-place finishes in the 200-meter and 55-meter dashes. Shapiro posted a time of 22.45 while Staples' mark of 6.69 was good for second place.

Senior James Pellerano outlasted the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:41.94 for second place while Northeastern's 4 x 800-meter team turned in NU's last runner-up finish on the oval, combining for a mark of 8:15.11.

Senior Pablo Rodgriuez, rookie Jasper McCoy and sophomore Max Milder all accounted for a second-place mark in their respective events. Rodriguez cleared 3.80m in the pole vault while McCoy's combo of 13.80m in the triple jump garnered second-place status. Milder's throw of 16.01m in the weight throw was good enough for second place, as well.

Senior Darius Velez made the podium in the 200-meter dash with a third-place clip of 22.79 while Lane's time of 8.00 in the 55-meter hurdles equaled a third-place performance as well. Junior Tejorn Davis leaped for 13.70m in the triple jump for Northeastern's final podium performance of the day.
