The Northeastern women's basketball team fell short despite a valiant effort on Sunday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex in Hempstead, N.Y., losing to Hofstra by a score of 72-66.
With the loss, the Huskies fall to 3-15 on the year, and 1-6 in CAA play.
Senior captain
Jamie Conroy had an impressive showing in her final game in her home state of New York, scoring 17 points and adding six assists, six rebounds and a pair of steals. Fellow senior captain
Dani Iervolino, also playing in her final game in her native Empire State, added six points and a steal.
Sophomore
Jewel Tunstull got the scoring started for the Huskies, putting back an offensive rebound for an easy lay-in. After breaking Hofstra's press, Tunstull found an open Conroy on the wing for a jumper to tie the contest at four.

Deanna Kerkhof three gave Northeastern its first lead of the contest at 20-18 midway through the first half. The teams traded baskets before freshman
Genevieve Gaboriault knocked down a triple to put the Huskies back on top, 25-24.
An 8-0 run by Hofstra gave the Pride a seven point lead, but Kerkhof hit a three to slim the deficit back to four, then converted a three-point play after a Hofstra basket to cut it to three. Five quick points by the Pride pushed the lead to eight, but freshman

Mark put the Huskies on the board to start the second half, draining a three as the shot clock expired to pull NU within five. Jamie Conroy hit a lay-up to tie the contest at 43-all.
The Pride used a 12-2 run to push its advantage to ten, the largest lead of the contest. Following the second media stoppage of the half, Conroy stopped the run with a lay-up, leading to a Hofstra timeout. After the Huskies were able to break a Hofstra press, Kerkhof hit an open triple to cut the score to 56-50.
A Conroy basket slimmed the deficit to five prior to the game's penultimate media timeout. Conroy then picked up a steal following the stoppage, leading to a Huber three-point play to cut the lead to two. After the teams traded buckets, Conroy hit a jumper to tie the contest at 59-all.
After a Katelyn Loper triple put the Pride back on top, Kerkhof and Candace Bond traded jumpers and a Shante Evans bucket put the Pride back on top by five. They held that lead until the game's final minute, when Kerkhof hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to pull NU within three.
Following a Hofstra timeout, Evans hit another basket inside to put Hofstra up five. Iervolino responded with a triple, leaving the Huskies down two with 19.3 seconds to play. Candice Ballocchio sunk a pair of free throws for the Pride, and a Kerkhof three fell short before Evans iced the victory for Hofstra with a pair of free throws.
Conroy finished her final game in her home state of New York by filling up the stat sheet with 17 points, six assists, six rebounds and two steals. Kerkhof led the Huskies in scoring with 18 points, while Huber added seven points and a team-high seven rebounds. Mark chipped in nine points, and Tunstull added four boards and a pair of blocks.
Evans led all scorers with 21 points and rebounds with 13. Loper added 18 for the Pride, who move to 6-1 in CAA play with the victory.
Northeastern next returns home for a pair of CAA contests, starting with UNC Wilmington on Thursday night at Solomon Court. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
