The Northeastern men's track & field team registered 15 top-10 finishes, including a victory by senior transfer Darius Velez in the 55-meter dash, to propel the Huskies to a third-place team finish (60.33 points) at the first annual Joe Donahue Indoor Games.

The Boston Indoor Games were renamed the 'Joe Donahue Indoor Games' in an effort to honor the late NU track & field legend and Hall of Famer who passed away on Oct. 10, 2011.

Velez turned in the fourth-fastest time in school history en route to victory, crossing the line in 6.40. It was the Huskies' fastest time in the 55-meter dash since Lonnie Hooker posted a mark of 6.32 on March 1, 1986.

Second-year jumper Kaylin Miranda continued his strong season with a runner-up finish in the long jump, clearing 6.95 (22'9.75) for eight NU points. Senior Andrew Staples posted a third-place performance of 6.93m (22'9) while MacDonald's seventh-place mark of 6.66m (21'10.25) yielded two points. Staples also participated in the 55-meter dash, sprinting for seventh place in 6.68.

Rookie Zachary Fraielli gained points in the distance game, breaking off a sixth-place time of 2:31.98. Northeastern's quartet of juniors Anthony Gentles and Luke Malley, rookie Andrew Rice and Lucas earned one point for the Huskies with an eighth-place mark of 10:39.84 in the distance medley relay.
