PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Goals from Lindsay Bennett and Caroline Judge proved to be the difference on Sunday as the Northeastern field hockey team (2-1) picked up a road victory at Providence (2-2), 2-1.

Both goals came in the first half, including Judge's eventual game-winner with less than a minute left in the opening 35 minutes. Freshman goalkeeper Becky Garner got the start in goal for the third time this season, making three saves.

Shots for the match were level at seven apiece, while both teams each recorded four shots on goal. PC goalkeeper made two saves for the Friars, who generated just two corner opportunities to Northeastern's nine.

The Huskies wasted no time in taking a lead in the match as Bennett netted her first of the season just three minutes in. After Bennett inserted the ball up to Emmy Zweserijn off a corner chance, Zweserijn fired a shot towards goal that Bennett got a stick on for the score.

Providence would answer 15 minutes later when Kasey Bulman threaded a long ball into the circle and onto the stick of Daniella Bernasconi, who deflected it past Garner for the score.

NU would retake the lead with less than a minute left in the first half when Judge notched her first of the season. After Leah Edmondson sent a pass across the circle to Judge stationed on the right, Judge fired a low shot into the left of the cage.

The teams continued the back and forth action into the second half, trading chances and testing each team's keeper. Each squad picked up a green card midway through the second, including Zweserijn for the Huskies and Kaleigh Fitzpatrick for the Friars.

Coming out of a timeout with 10 minutes left in regulation and looking to tie the score, Providence's Caitlin Malone was issued a yellow card, forcing the Friars to play down a player for five minutes. Following the yellow, NU was able to maintain possession, keeping PC away from goal.

The Huskies will return home on Friday when Northeastern hosts Dartmouth. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on Dedham Field.
