BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Winners of three straight matches, the Northeastern women's soccer team (7-3-2, 2-0-0) will look to stay unbeaten in CAA play this weekend when it welcomes Towson (Friday, 6 p.m.) and James Madison (Sunday, 1 p.m.) to Parsons Field.
Scouting TowsonThe Tigers enter Friday's matchup with a 3-5-2 overall record and an 0-1-0 mark in CAA play. Towson fell to James Madison, 4-2, on Sept. 26 in its CAA opener with Katie Ponce and Marissa Green netting the goals. Ponce leads the squad with three goals and seven points. As a team, Towson ranks ninth in the CAA with 10 goals scored, and fifth in the CAA with 13 goals against.
Scouting James MadisonThe Dukes own a 6-5-0 overall mark and a 1-0-0 record in conference play. James Madison is led by Ashley Herndon, who paces the CAA with six assists and 42 shots. As a team, JMU ranks fifth in scoring (1.45 goals per game) and seventh in goals against (1.55). Sunday's game will be a rematch of the 2013 CAA Championship, won by the Huskies, 3-1, on the Dukes' home field.

Score to Cure: Student-athletes launch charity initiativeOn Sunday, the Huskies' will host a Score to Cure event to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer. Prior to the match, there will be games for children in attendance, and special Score to Cure bracelets will be sold with all proceeds going to the charity. NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, as announced Tuesday. The position represents the highest rank NU has achieved in the poll this season.Â
Dowd collects two honorsSophomore
Mackenzie Dowd picked up a pair of honors this week after two standout performances last week against William & Mary and Elon. On Monday, Dowd was tabbed the CAA Player of the Week, and on Tuesday, Dowd earned TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week honors. Dowd netted the game-winning goal in the 80th minute last Friday at William & Mary as the Huskies snagged a 1-0 win–their first-ever road victory vs. the Tribe. Dowd then scored again on Sunday in a 4-0 rout of Elon, while also helping the NU defense post its third consecutive clean-sheet.
Lopiccolo named CAA Rookie of the WeekFreshman
Hannah Lopiccolo joined Dowd on the CAA honor roll on Monday, claiming Rookie of the Week accolades after a five-point outburst vs. Elon on Sept. 28. Lopiccolo scored two goals and added an assist on
Carina Deandreis' game-winner to give the freshman a team-high 11 points in 12 matches this season.
