HUSKIES TAKE ON FRIARS IN HOME-AND-HOMEFresh off a big 6-3 win over No. 6 Boston University on Tuesday, the Northeastern women's hockey team (3-5-3, 2-3-0 WHEA) will take on Providence this weekend in a Hockey East home-and-home series. The Huskies will travel to Providence on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game, before returning to Matthews Arena for a home game Sunday at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE FRIARSProvidence enters the weekend in search of its first win of the season. The Friars are 0-9-3, but have battled to two straight ties against Union (2-2) and UConn (4-4) in their most recent games. Providence has played a challenging slate of games thus far, having faced nationally-ranked foes Mercyhurst, Clarkson and Boston College in six of its 12 games. Haley Frade leads the squad with eight points on three goals and five assists. Allie Morse (3.66 GAA) and Sarah Bryant (3.75 GAA) have split time in net, with Morse owning an 0-6-2 record and Bryant sporting an 0-3-1 mark.
LAST TIME VS. PROVIDENCENortheastern defeated Providence, 3-1, when the teams last met on Feb. 8, 2014 at Schneider Arena.

SUCCESS AT SCHNEIDERNortheastern is unbeaten in its last four trips to Schneider Arena (3-0-1) dating back to the 2010 season. The Huskies won by scores of 3-1 and 4-1 at Providence last year, and have not lost to the Friars in their home building since a 4-1 setback on Nov. 20, 2010.
TOP-10 TUSSLESNortheastern defeated No. 6 Boston University on Tuesday to improve to 2-3-0 against the top-10 this season. The Huskies split a pair of games at No. 8/10 Mercyhurst in October, before falling to No. 6/7 BU and No. 1/1 Boston College in the last two weeks. Northeastern is 4-11-1 vs. the top-10 over the past two years.
FIVE-STAR PERFORMANCEJunior
Kendall Coyne recorded her first career five-point game on Tuesday at Boston University, notching a hat trick and two assists in a 6-3 win. Coyne has six career four-point games and one six-point game, but had never recorded exactly five points in a game prior to Tuesday night.
COYNE, SAVAGE HELP USA TO SILVERJuniors
Kendall Coyne and
Paige Savage helped Team USA earn a silver medal at the 2014 Four Nations Cup in Kamloops, British Columbia. The U.S. finished with a 2-2-0 record to place second behind unbeaten Canada, who beat Team USA in a shootout, 3-2, in the title game. Competing in her fifth Four Nations Cup, Coyne notched an assist on Brianna Decker's second period goal in the championship game.
KRIZOVA, POVOVA COMPETE FOR CZECHSFreshman

Lucie Povova competed for the Czech Republic National Team at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship Qualification Series. The Czechs lost to Japan in a three-game series in Yokohama, two games to one, for the final spot in the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship in Malmo, Sweden. Krizova scored a goal in game two to help the Czechs even the series, but Japan was able to steal game three, 2-1, on Tuesday to advance to the IIHF's premier event.
BRACE FOR BRANDFreshman
McKenna Brand logged her first career two-goal game in Tuesday's 6-3 win at Boston University. Brand scored the Huskies' third goal early in the second period, before adding her second tally less than five minutes into the third to make it 5-1. Brand has three career goals in 11 games and has notched all three tallies on the 11th day of the month; the freshman scored at RIT on Oct. 11 and potted two goals at BU on Nov. 11.
BU BREAKTHROUGHNortheastern recorded its highest scoring output of the season on Tuesday at BU with six goals. Prior to that game, NU had scored two goals or less in each of its last seven games dating back to a 4-0 win at No. 8/10 Mercyhurst on Oct. 17. The Huskies also scored two goals in the first period against BU for the second time this season. Northeastern has scored only four first period goals in 2014-15 and all of them have come against the Terriers.
MULTI-POINT MANIAJunior
Kendall Coyne her fourth straight multi-point game on Nov. 11 at BU to give her 41 career multi-point performances. In 74 career contests, Coyne has registered 26 two-point games, seven three-point efforts, six four-point performances, one five-point extravaganza, and one six-point bonanza. Coyne has 13 career multi-assist efforts and 18 career multi-goal games, including five hat-tricks.Â
