BOSTON — The Northeastern men's rowing team topped hometown rivals Harvard and Boston University, as well as regular season rival Brown, to win the Foot of the Charles on Saturday morning. The Huskies posted four top-five finishes across two events; the fours placed first, fifth, and 11th, while the eights finished second and third. Saturday's victory marked the first NU win in the fours event since 1990.

The winning time in the fours was posted by Northeastern's A boat, covering the course in 13:10.5, bettering Harvard by one second. NU's A boat started off 10 seconds behind the Harvard B boat at the start-line, but by the first major turn they were overlapped and continued to have contact throughout the Powerhouse. By the time the crews reached Weeks Bridge, the Crimson maintained inside position through the turn until Anderson Street Bridge, where Northeastern started its sprint to the line. Despite the disadvantage, the Huskies managed to better every four on the Charles this morning.

The Northeastern B boat finished with a time of 13:23.8, putting them in fifth place, 12.3 seconds behind the Northeastern A boat and 2.5 seconds behind Brown A. Northeastern C completed the course in 13:40.2, placing second among all C boats in the competition. In the Open Eight event, Northeastern finished second and third only to Boston University. NU's A boat finished the course in 12:41.6, while the Huskies B boat finished it in 12:49.5.
 
The Huskies will look to continue the momentum they gained at the end of the fall season throughout winter training and spring racing. The returning Northeastern oarsmen were distributed amongst last year's crews that had a strong showings at the Eastern Sprints, placing fourth in the varsity, winning the junior varsity event, and coming in second in another varsity event.
