The Northeastern Huskies suffered a 3-0 setback to James Madison in the semifinals of the CAA tournament.
Box Score | Season Stats

DEDHAM, Mass. – The Northeastern Huskies fell to the Dukes of James Madison, 3-0, in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association postseason tournament.

The Huskies and Dukes went back and forth over the 70-minute match, but goals from James Madison's Loes Stijntjes, Taylor West and Danni Wilson pushed the Dukes to victory.

The game started with both teams playing extremely strong defense. Each time the Dukes entered the offensive zone, the Huskies would respond and clear the ball out, attempting to start a fast break. The same scenario would play out for the Dukes when the Huskies entered into their offensive zone.

JMU's  game's first goal came at the 32:35 mark of the first half. The Dukes were awarded a penalty corner and capitalizes as Stijntjes deflected Danna Allaband's shot into the back of the net.

Sophomore Becky Garner made an excellent play on the ball, but the shot squeaked past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead.

The second half would start off similar to the first as both teams again played strong defense. At the 39:13 mark of the half, however, JMU would widen their lead to two goals as West was able to score her first goal of the postseason off of a penalty corner.

The Huskies then picked up their energy and started to generate offensive chances. Their best scoring opportunity of the game came midway through the second half when Natalie Stewart had a one-on-one with Hannah George, JMU's goalkeeper. Stewart entered the circle with speed, but George came out to challenge her and knocked the ball off of Stewart's stick.

James Madison's final goal came at the 50:47 mark of the game when Danni Wilson scored on a one-timer set up by Dana Allaband.

Northeastern had six different players register a shot, led by captain Kate Carlson with three. Garner finished her day with five saves.
