BOSTON - The Northeastern women's hockey team (6-8-3) will play its final game of the 2014 calendar year on Wednesday, Dec. 31 with a 2 p.m. matinee at Matthews Arena against visiting Dartmouth (5-6-1). This season marks the fourth consecutive year that the Huskies and Big Green will square off on the ice, with Northeastern sporting a 2-1 record during the previous three contests.

All-time against Dartmouth

Wednesday's New Year's Eve showdown will be the 40th all-time meeting between Northeastern and Dartmouth with the Huskies owning a 28-8-3 advantage against the Big Green. NU has won each of its last two matchups against Dartmouth, but the two programs are an even 3-3-0 during the last six head-to-head games dating back to Mar. 3, 2000.

Scouting the Big Green

Dartmouth enters Wednesday afternoon's game against the Huskies after snapping a seven-game winless streak with a 6-2 victory on the road against Vermont on Dec. 14. Lindsey Allen helped the Big Green erase a 2-0 deficit to the Catamounts, registering her second hat trick of the season as a part of a four-point night for the junior. Dartmouth started the season a perfect 4-0-0 and ascended as high as No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll on Nov. 10. Junior forward Laura Stacey leads the Big Green with 15 points (six goals, nine assists), while Allen is the only Dartmouth skater to have scored double-digit goals this season (10 goals, two assists). Robyn Chemago has started all 12 games in net for the Big Green this season, averaging 2.82 GAA to go along with a .894 save percentage this year.

Last time out against Dartmouth

In the final game of a six-game road trip for the Huskies, Northeastern topped Dartmouth, 2-1, in overtime on Nov. 29, 2013. Trailing 1-0 late in the third period, NU forward Hayley Scamurra scored her first collegiate goal with just under seven minutes to play in regulation, leveling the game at 1-1. The Huskies outshot the Big Green 4-1 in the extra period, as Katie MacSorley and Paige Savage connected with Kelly Wallace, who slid the puck past Dartmouth goalie Lindsay Holdcroft for the game-winner.

Across conferences

Northeastern is 0-2-0 against ECAC opponents in 2014-15, having lost its two most recent home games to No. 7/7 Harvard, 4-3, on Nov. 29, and Union, 1-0, on Dec. 2. Dartmouth has posted a 2-2-0 record during four games this season against Hockey East competition. The Big Green has collected wins this year against New Hampshire and Vermont, while suffering defeats at the hands of No. 6/5 Boston University and No. 1/1 Boston College.

Northeastern in the year 2014

During the 2014 calendar year, the Huskies have notched an 18-12-4 overall record and sported a .588 winning percentage, the highest the program has enjoyed since 2012 (.672). Regardless of Wednesday afternoon's result, Northeastern will have secured a winning record in each of the last five calendar years, including 2014.

Union edges Huskies despite 59 shots

Despite belting a season-high 59 shots at Union goaltender Shenae Lundberg on Dec. 2, Northeastern could not quite find the back of the net as the Dutchwomen (2-10-2) earned a 1-0 victory against the Huskies. NU fired 22 shots during the first period alone, the most the team has recorded in a single period this year. Northeastern's 59 shots during the entire game are also the most the Huskies have placed on net since Feb. 23, 2002, when NU defeated Quinnipiac, 3-1, behind another 59-shot performance.

Dave Flint against Dartmouth

Northeastern head coach Dave Flint has guided the Huskies to two wins in three games against Dartmouth, all since 2011. Flint faced the Big Green for the first time on Nov. 26, 2011, and helped the Huskies navigate a two-goal deficit to comeback and force overtime, despite surrendering the game-winning goal 51 seconds into the extra period. The following year, Flint coached Northeastern to a 3-2 overtime victory on Dec. 5, 2012, a win that improved the Huskies' season record to 10-5-2. On Nov. 29, 2013, Flint again led NU to an overtime charge on the road against Dartmouth, claiming a 2-1 victory.

More time, please

Each of the last three head-to-head meetings between Northeastern and Dartmouth have extended beyond regulation into overtime, with the Huskies coming out victorious on two of those three occasions. The Huskies are still in search of their first overtime victory of the 2014-15  campaign (0-0-2), while the Big Green drew 4-4 against Quinnipiac in the team's lone overtime game of the year.

Killin' time

In its last four games, Northeastern has dominated the penalty kill, having successfully stifled 11-of-13 penalites in 23:56. Currently, the Huskies are fourth in Hockey East with an 85.0 penalty kill percentage, a mark that ranks 14th in the NCAA.

Non-conference woes

A win Wednesday against Dartmouth would snap Northeastern's five-game winless streak against non-conference opponents. The Huskies are 1-4-3 against non-conference competition this season, with their lone win coming against No. 8/10 Mercyhurst Oct. 17.
