Overall Results

BOSTON—Highlighted by 28 points from junior Stephen Sollowin, the Northeastern men's track and field team walked away with a hard fought, third-place team finish at the New England Championships this weekend at Boston University.

I am very proud of our men's team and the athletes' ability to put their teammates before themselves," said head coach Cathrine Erickson. "Many of the athletes fought through so much adversity and we really saw their passion for each other prevail."

Southern Connecticut State claimed the team-title with 118 points, while 99 points earned Rhode Island the second-place spot. The Huskies took third after recording 96 points on the weekend.

Sollowin snagged the individual title and added 10 points to the squad's overall score in the 3,000-meter run with a mark of 8:19.92. The junior later competed in the mile run, taking second with a personal best time of 4:02.31 (eight points). Sollowin also anchored a quartet of Huskies, including Zachary Fraielli, Paul Duffey, and David McDonald, in the men's distance medley relay that contributed 10 points with a first-place steal at 9:50.16.

Reigning CAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year Wesley Gallagher finished right behind Sollowin in the mile for the bronze with a personal best mark of 4:02.57. Gallagher made up one-quarter of the men's 4x800 relay team that took third for six points. (7:41.73).

Zachary Krause set the pace for Northeastern in the 5,000-meter run, earning eight points after crossing at a personal-best 14:28.22 for a second place. Fraielli crossed next for NU to add six points at third (14:34.46).

Paul Duffey earned four points for the team with a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run after taking third in the preliminary round.

In the field, Jackson MacDonald jumped 7.01 meters for second place in the long jump, while Kyle Darrow took fourth in the same event (6.97 meters). The duo snagged eight and four points, respectively, while Nick Tyler and Adam Thomas added three points, collectively, to the overall team score in the pole vault.

Kevin Rosenberg and Max Milder closed out competition in the field. Rosenberg finished fifth after tossing 16.05-meters in the shot put, while Milder took sixth in the weight throw (17.64 meters).

"Our program has really laid the foundation for a fruitful outdoor season and we are looking forward to the road ahead," said Erickson.

The Huskies will be back in action this weekend for the IC4A Championships, which begin on Friday, March 7.
