WESTFIELD, Mass. – Behind five top-three finishes, the Northeastern track and field teams closed out the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon in Westfield, Massachusetts.

The men's squad claimed a sixth-place team finish with 36 points, while Southern Connecticut State claimed the crown with 108 points.

Senior
Max Milder tossed a personal-best toss in the hammer throw (62.69 meters), claiming the individual title, while
Kevin Rosenberg snagged the silver in the shot put (16.34 meters). Together, the duo tallied 18 points to the overall team score.
Jackson MacDonald and
Kyle Darrow recorded three points, collectively, in the long jump.

On the track, rookie
Paul Duffey ran a PB in the 1,500-meter run and clocked in at second with a mark of 1:50.09, good for eight points.Â

Two-time Colonial Athletic Association champion
Donovan Henry logged six total points after a pair of sixth place finishes in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

The NU collected 27 total points for an 11th-place team finish. Rhode Island claimed the gold with 77 points.

In the field,
Georgia Pingue cleared 12.05 meters in the triple jump for four total points, while teammate
Olivia Stevens took seventh for two points.
Jenna Serunian claimed fifth in the discus with a 40.22-meter toss. Graduate
Julia Westover took the silver in the hammer throw with a season-best 52.32 heave.

On the track,
Camille Gooden finished third and sixth in the 400-meter and 200-meter dash, respectively, to add nine points to the squad's overall score.

Post-season action continues on Friday, May 16, when the teams head to Princeton, New Jersey, for the IC4A and ECAC Championships.
