Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Despite a strong effort throughout the match, the Northeastern Huskies fell to the top-ranked Maryland Terrapins, 4-1, to close out their weekend at the Conference Cup at the Nook in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Â
It was NU's first matchup against a top five ranked team since facing Connecticut in 2012.
Â
Northeastern's first goal came off a penalty corner midway through the second half. Captain
Caroline Judge fed
Marisa Dunn with a swift pass and Dunn was able to bury it in the back of the cage to put NU on the scoreboard. It was the senior's first goal of the season.
Â
Becky Garner continued to perform well, turning away a season-high six shots throughout the match.
Â
Maryland opened the scoring early in the second half. At the 36:20 mark, Sarah Sprink took a pass from Rachel Frusher off a corner and slipped it past Garner for the lead.
Â
Several minutes later Maryland would strike again off a corner to give the Terps a 2-0 advantage. Maxine Fluharty took a pass from Sprink and was able to beat Garner for the second goal of the match.

Â
The first half came and went without a goal from either team. Maryland opened the match with a heavy attack – registering 14 shots in the first half – however, in front of Garner, the Huskies limited the Terps to just four shots on net.
