BOSTON - Eager to start the fall training season, Northeastern baseball head coach Mike Glavine is excited to announce his team captains for the upcoming 2015 season. Senior pitcher Nick Berger and junior catcher Josh Treff will be Glavine's first captains since becoming head coach of the Huskies at the conclusion of last season.

Berger started 15 games for Northeastern in 2014, and led the Huskies' pitching rotation in both innings pitched (91.2) and strikeouts (85). The right-hander from Commack, New York was red hot in his final two starts of last year, pitching two complete games and accumulating 21 strikeouts while only allowing one walk.

Treff started 53 games from behind the plate for the Huskies in 2014, posting 38 base hits, seven doubles, 19 RBI, and a batting average of .208. The junior from Salem, New Hampshire also threw out 20 runners in his second season at Northeastern.

Coach Glavine feels both players are strong role models that can help guide his squad throughout the year.

"Both Nick and Josh are outstanding leaders on and off the field," Glavine said. "They are two of our hardest working players and do a tremendous job of leading by example. Both are excellent students and are great representatives of the University and baseball program."
